Fly into GGT
Exuma International Airport, code GGT, sits near Moss Town on Great Exuma, about a 15 to 20 minute drive from George Town. It is small, friendly and easy to move through.
Direct routes, seasonal and subject to change:
- Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Atlanta, seasonally
- Toronto, seasonally
- Nassau, several short hops daily
If you are flying from anywhere else, you will connect in Nassau. The Nassau to Exuma leg is around 40 minutes.
Connecting through Nassau
Leave a real buffer. Domestic Bahamian flights are small aircraft and schedules move. If your international arrival lands late in the day, plan on an overnight in Nassau rather than risking the last hop.
Baggage on the small planes is limited and weighed. Travel light, and check the weight allowance for the specific carrier.
Flying to Staniel Cay
If you are staying on Staniel Cay rather than Great Exuma, there is a small airstrip there with charter and scheduled service from Nassau and Fort Lauderdale. That saves you the two hour boat crossing. See small homes in Exuma for where to stay on the cay.
The ferry
A mail boat and ferry service runs between Nassau and Great Exuma. It is slow, it is inexpensive and the schedule is not built for holidays. Most visitors fly. Consider the boat only if you enjoy the journey itself or you are moving something large.
Once you land
- Book a rental car in advance. Supply is genuinely limited and the island is spread out.
- We drive on the left. Read the travel tips before you collect the keys.
- Taxis are available at the airport, but relying on them for a whole trip gets expensive quickly.
- Arriving Sunday or after 3 PM? Arrange groceries in advance, because the stores will be shut.
- Our concierge arranges airport transfers, car rental and provisioning for guests.
Staying with us?
We handle airport pickup, rental cars, chefs and boat tours for guests at all four villas.
